What if I don’t feel safe at work?
A workplace hazard deserves attention before someone is injured, and workers have options for raising safety concerns.
IDENTIFY THE HAZARD AND REPORT IT.
Without placing yourself in danger, identify the hazard. It may be certain equipment, a task, missing protections, unsafe conditions, or even certain individuals.
Report to your supervisor or through appropriate channels and preserve the record. Save written reports and responses, and understand that you have the right to protect yourself.
In Maryland, you are protected during outside safety reporting. Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH) allows covered workers to request inspections and provides protections for exercising applicable safety rights.
IF YOU’VE BEEN INJURED AT WORK, YOU MAY HAVE A WORKERS’ COMPENSATION CASE.
If you were hurt at work, contact an Attorney to learn your options. A safety complaint does not replace a Workers’ Comp claim, and threats or retaliation deserve prompt legal review.
