How do I keep my child safe from bullying?
AS A PARENT, HOW CAN I KEEP MY CHILD SAFE FROM BULLYING?
Bullying prevention starts with regular conversations and reliable adult support. Ask your child about friendships, lunchtime, recess, and online interactions—not just whether school was “good.” Help them identify trusted adults at school and practice asking for help without worrying that they will get in trouble. Encourage friendships and activities that build connections, and talk about treating others respectfully, including online.
Ask the school what bullying prevention looks like each day. Find out how staff supervise classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and buses, teach expectations for respectful behavior, and make it easy for students to raise concerns. Discuss any individual support your child may need before problems develop. Children should not have to prevent bullying on their own—adults need to create a safe environment and take their concerns seriously.
