Should I involve Police?

NOT NECESSARILY.

Call 911 when there is immediate danger, a serious injury, a crime in progress, or another emergency. For a situation that is no longer urgent, contact the local police department through its non-emergency reporting process. Give the location, explain what happened, and identify any current threats or medical needs.

Not every injury requires police attendance, but some incidents have specific reporting requirements. A workplace accident, school injury, or fall may also need to be reported to the responsible organization or insurer. If police take a report, ask for the incident number and how to request a copy. A police report can help document an incident, but it does not replace medical care or the other steps needed to pursue a claim.
