Why does starting a Lawsuit take so long?

DOES THIS PHASE TAKE THE LONGEST?

The simple answer is no, not always. Starting your lawsuit (called Litigation) involves many stops, and there is a ton of paperwork the whole time. First we need to prepare our Complaint. This means:

  • Identifying who the defendant is (who we are suing)

  • Telling what happened

  • Asking for money that it owed

  • Stating why the court should hear the case

  • and finally, formally delivering the Complaint.

We most likely already have most of this information. The parts that take the longest usually involve properly serving the documents and locating people for the Trial. Speak with your Attorney for more information.
